Treating Red Poultry Mite Infestations

Our Exzolt Therapy treats Chicken Mites, Roost Mites, Poultry Red Mites, the red poultry mite, and the chicken mite (Dermanyssus gallinae).,

They are significant parasites of egg laying chicken flocks worldwide. Red-Mite Infestations can often go unrecognised for long periods of time. ,

These mites are nocturnal, and leave the birds at day break- which is why poultry-red-mite can often go undetected.

Chicken flocks infested with red poultry mites develop anaemia, restlessness – and don't sleep well.

The red mites eat blood – causing anaemia. The low red cell count results in a pale comb and wattles, dullness, reduced egg production, weakness and death.

What do red poultry mites look like?

As an adult, the red poultry mite is about 0.6 to 1 mm in length, has 8 legs and can range in colour from white to grey, to black to deep red (depending on whether it has recently fed on blood).
